Which a few people felt that it was maybe a fake or an April's fools joke. Well recently, I managed to picked up a set with box & instructions from an auction web-site... I posted some pictures here:

I just wanted to share these pictures with fellow collectors.
Enjoy,

Hallo Mike,
thanks for the great pictures! The set is in fantastic condition!
Do you know something about the last owner? Did he/she knew that this is an rarity?

Darn. We are getting old. However, you're all getting older than me, huahuahua!

That's a great find, congratulations. Pitty the battery box is corroded, though.
I remember we used to have the 317-discussion here on 1000steine, too. And I admit I was leaning towards the "it's not original" side. So now I stand corrected.
Thanks for sharing!

You're welcome! Unfortunately, no, I don't know anything about the previous owner. I won it in an on-line auction web-site, sponsored by a thrift store... I'd imagine someone was cleaning out their attic and gave it to their local thrift store.
I've been curious about the LEGO archive; I've wondered in the back of my mind how much of the early Samsonite sets they do/don't have.

I know I'm getting old! What's your secret? ABS injections?

Haven't had the time yet, but I'm hoping I can clean it up some, and see if I can
get it operational again. I'll post to Flickr if I get it working again with
video.

Dear Mike,
thanks for bringing this topic back to our mind! In fact I was doubting on this very set strongly when "someone unknown" brought it to our attention first.
