eMail von LEGO Direct

guten Morgen allerseits,

Jan,

Several weeks ago I read with great amusement the discussion on Lugnet about
your Eternal Cube. I quickly built one of my own and have been showing it to
other people at LEGO Direct here in New York (until it went missing
recently... but at least I know nobody took it apart). Everyone found it
very entertaining, and one person called it "the anti-Rubik's Cube: it's not
colorful, it doesn't move or do anything, and you can't solve it."

The reason I'm writing to you is about a section we recently launched on
LEGO.com, called "Build." The purpose is to encourage kids to build their
own creations, learn about LEGO product design and sets from the past, and
generally promote building with LEGO. You can read the announcement and
discussion about Build on Lugnet here:

http://news.lugnet.com/lego/direct/?n=2418

We have been trying to think of ideas for the next issue of Build. Right now
we have features about a Master Builder, the 8448 Supercar, and so forth.
The idea of your Cube came up, and we thought it make a somewhat
lighthearted feature: a man devises a LEGO creation that cannot be taken
apart -- children, construct this at your own risk! You may never reclaim
your bricks again! We would give instructions on how to assemble it, with
warnings: "you can't go back if you do this next step" etc. We wouldn't want
a child's mother to call us complaining about their bricks being locked into
a structure! Also, perhaps challenge kids to improve upon it (I remember you
said you were working on that too). And if you're interested, an interview
with you, the creator, about the Cube. Of course, we would like to do this
with your permission, since it is your creation.

What do you think? Would you be interested in being interviewed? Can we
provide instructions on how to make a Cube? I think it could be quite
inspiring to kids in a very unusual way.

P.S. I'll be out of the office until Monday but I wanted to send this to you
before I forgot.
