How to build mouse, keyboard, PC screen ?

I have a special idea, and you were recommended as masters of the brick craft by Lego Customer Service.

Within my company I am known for 1st of April pranks. (yes, quite early for that, but I am planning ahead ;)

This year, I would like to replace a coworker´s keyboard, mouse and screen with a LEGO keyboard, mouse and screen, built of bricks.

Therefore, I would need your advise on how I could best build it ?
What kind of bricks would I need, and where could I get them ?

If you could provide my advise I would be very thankful!

Kind regards

Jakob

Hi Jakob,

ah that sounds like a nice idea . I would first recommend you to plan your keyboard and mouse with the Lego Digital Designer (short LDD, Link: http://ldd.lego.com/de-de/ )
What bricks you will use can't be foreseen easily by us here, just start experimenting with the LDD, but be careful when using it in "expert" Mode --> there you can place bricks which are not available in particular colour variations.

Now where to get the Bricks from? Best from here: http://www.bricklink.com/ --> this is a big Lego bricks market place, where you can get new and used bricks. Or you can also obtain bricks from Lego directly (Pick a Brick, expensive): http://shop.lego.com/de-A...A-Brick-NachThemenwelt

Anyway it will become a costly 1. Aprils prank. Keep in mind that a brick in average roughly cost about 0,10€. And a full blown PC-Keyboard will have several 100 pieces and some pieces for the mouse.

And now to start... hmm that's a difficult question, but the buttons of a regular keyboard are approximately the size of a 2x2 flat tile (e.g this one: http://alpha.bricklink.co...item.page?id=17085#T=C ). Perhaps you'll start with this scale. I also think that jumper plates ( http://alpha.bricklink.co...ogitem.page?id=708#T=C ) will become very handy to get the spaces between the keyboard buttons.

Another thing: since this is a German forum and people here might not be familiar with English and you might get not as much answers ... but you can also ask you question here: http://www.eurobricks.com (this is an English speaking forum). You might get more answers there?

I hope this helped you a little bit to start with you prank ...

Best Regards,
Günther
