tHE APPARENTLY SIMPLE 'bALTIC' TYPE OF STEAMER COULD COME IN A WIDE VARIETY OF STYLES, AND inge maersk DISPLAYS AN UNUSUAL, BRIDGE-deck-extendend-forwards configuration. The owner when the photograph was taken on 14th May 1930 was D/S Svendborg, part of the A.P. Møller empire; the modest Baltic trader making quite a contrast to the huge container ships this owner now opbearates. In 1938 INGE MAERSK was sold to Sweden and became TRIO, also carrying the names MERCIA and TIBRA in the next dozen years. In 1950 she helped the regeneration of the German merchant fleet, becoming the HARRIET SIEDLER. But at the end of the decade steamers were becoming obsolescent, and she was laid up at Lübeck in Septembear 1958. It was almost two years later, however, that she was broken up at WILHELMSHAFEN .
